This "cover" was commissioned by Tim Lowth as us doing a version of his original instrumental piece. John got to work on it and expanded it into a song of truly epic proportions, including writing all the lyrics and adding the material for the middle section and introduction.
While officially a cover song, we think of this as a new original track co-written with Tim. We are really proud of it and we hope that you are too.
lyrics
All work and no play can leave you blind
Time for a rest in the shade
Time to make time to be revived
These hay bales will look great once they’re done
But in the heat of midday
Linger a while and be reminded
Sweet breath of Zephyr’s song
Sweet breath of Zephyr’s song to the sun
When worries all pile on
Make sure that you hold on
Springtime will come
Where ancient history’s written in the walls
Get so excited by life
Brought here by all that came before us
Sweet breath of Zephyr’s song
Sweet breath of Zephyr’s song to the sun
When hopes and plans go wrong
Make sure that you hold on
Summer will come
Time to make time to be delighted
Linger a while and be inspired
Space to make space so you remember
Pause to refresh when minds are tired
Checking to check that hearts are open
Grace to give grace when this world’s sore
Take stock to restock on compassion
Love choosing love if you’re unsure
Ancient history’s written in the walls
We weather storms in this life
Forgetting all that came before us
Oh oh
Sweet breath of Zephyr’s song
Draw breath and sing along to the One
When troubles all pile on
Remember to hold on
Springtime will come
Springtime will come

BBT are standard bearers for modern prog, with a sound that evokes the spirit of those legendary 70s bands whilst managing to also be thoroughly contemporary. It's astonishing that over 30 minutes of music of this quality, with such high production values, is being made available for free - and their full albums are also very reasonably priced... This is one of the best interpretations I've heard of Genesis music, Pete would have made an excellent replacement vocalist for the band itself, he has a lovely feel for the songs, and a perfect voice for the material Colman Jones
